The last day of the Digital Enterprise Show 2016 Event kept going with the Mastermind Congress, Digital Market Planet and Digital Demos and Women Leadership programs.
Besides, we knew about the awarded individuals and companies of the European Digital Mindset Awards. The award ceremony was the final act of the intense second day, loaded with great Industry Events, as Fujitsu World Tour or Salesforce Essentials.
The sessions of this last day begun with a remarkable keynote with a great speaker: Albert László Barabási, Professor in Northeastern University. He explained the relationship between complexity, networks and organizations in the context of the digital transformation trend. It was quite academic, but, at the same time, Albert was able to translate this academic language to the business world using analogies   and metaphors extracted from fields as Biology, Automotive or Internet.
In the end, organizations can be modeled as complex systems. Thus, we can use the scientific analytic tools used to understand complexity in the business world.
Customers and their role in the digital transformation puzzle were spotlighted in a number of sessions, such as “Customer Engagement and Productivity Tools” or “Omnichannel Customer Insights”.
The afternoon keynote was another hit. Brian Solis, digital analyst and anthropologist, author of the book “X. The Experience When Business Meets Design” talked about the importance of moving the center of organizations towards a human centric vision. Brands are no longer defined by companies, they are defined by the user experiences and engagement. They are defined by those emotions   felt and shared by consumers when they engage and interact with companies.
“Innovation in customer experience is all the work you do to conform to expectations and aspirations of people instead of making them conform to your assumptions or legacy investments and processes”.
Besides, he shared with the audience quite a useful definition of digital transformation: “the realignment of, or new investment in, technology, business models, and processes to drive new value for customers and employees and more effectively compete in an ever changing digital economy”.
Precisely, in one of the morning sessions, Daniel Newman, author of the book “Building Dragons: Disruption Culture and Technology”, defined digital transformation as “the ability to adapt to the changes of digital economy”.
What’s next?
In some sessions of the Digital Marketing Planet Program, their topics were related to disclose the next steps to be taken in digital transformation and digital marketing. Or focused on advices to unleash its potential. It’s a logical choice for the last day of this disruptive event, where nothing can be taken for granted yet.
There were time to cocreate about the next DES event under the form of a “jam session” to collect useful ideas to implement in the next edition of this event.
Women leadership
The Women Leadership program, focused on the role played by women in the digital transformation. There were nine sessions about relevant topics as diversity and inclusion in the context of this new digital businesses and economy.
There was time for analysis and discussion about the state of the art of the businesses digitalization with executives from companies as IBM, Microsoft, Ideas4All, ESADE or Deliberry.
