Dr. Almudena de la Mata is CEO of Blockchain Intelligence, Chairwoman of Blockchain Intelligence Law Institute, Board Member of Alastria, Academic Advisory Board of INATBA and the British Blockchain Association, and Fellow of the Royal Academy for Jurisprudence and Legislation. She is member of the professional board of the Foundation for Financial Innovation and Digital Economy She has been selected Blockchain Expert at “Los 100 de COTEC”, COTEC Foundation. Almudena is co-founder of Innovation for Change and Impact Hub.

In the past, Almudena has done advisory work for the Bundesbank, the European Commission and the Spanish Government.
She was Head of European Affairs at Banco de España (Spanish Central Bank and financial supervisor).

She hold several senior management positions at companies such as GE or Fortis Bank (Brussels).

She has supported the growth and internationalization of more than 500 startups through different European programmes.

Almudena is currently associate professor at IE University and visiting professor at several EU Universities. She has also been scientific researcher at the Max Planck Institute (Hamburg) and CEPS in Brussels where she directed the ECRI Institute. University professor since 2000 in several European universities such as Humboldt University Berlin (2001-2012), Hamburg University (2000-2010). Almudena holds a PhD from the University of Hamburg, Max-Planck-Institut, BA of Law and business law from ICADE, Business Executive by HEC, Certified Capital Markets, Regulation and Compliance, University of Reading, NLP Coach Practitioner certificate of training.
