Smart control in a large-scale wastewater treatment plant: the case of Amsterdam

Waternet is a public authority in the Netherlands responsible for water cycle management in the Amsterdam area. Among other responsibilities, they oversee the collection of wastewaters through the sewage system and its treatment to ensure water quality before discharging it into the river basin. This session will focus on how reinforcement learning techniques are used to reduce emissions and energy consumption while maintaining water quality throughout the process.
