Diego Lucero

Diego Lucero is Head of Alternative Lenders, Fintech, and Skills & Education Guarantee Programs at the European Investment Fund (EIF) in Luxembourg. He leads the design and implementation of guarantee and risk-transfer schemes that enhance access to finance for European companies, while helping financial institutions reduce risk and capital consumption on SME portfolios. These programs support key EU policy priorities, including Innovation and Digitalisation, Sustainability, Skills and Education, and the Cultural and Creative Sectors. His client portfolio includes debt funds, fintech firms, crowd lending platforms, and other alternative lenders.

Diego brings extensive experience from previous roles at international financial institutions such as BBVA and Santander, where he specialized in project finance, commodity-backed structured lending, working capital solutions, and structured credit sales.
