GIGA, from offline to opportunity: Connecting every school to the internet

Tue 09 Jun | 16:45 - 17:00

Language: Simultaneus translation

This session explores the role of Giga, a joint initiative of UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in supporting governments to connect every school in the world to the internet (giga.global). Giga functions as a collaborative platform that brings together public and private sector partners to map school connectivity, design data-driven infrastructure solutions, and support governments with effective delivery of connectivity contracts.
The discussion will highlight how international cooperation, open data, and innovative technology ecosystems can accelerate universal school connectivity, strengthen national digital strategies, and help close the global digital divide in education—unlocking access to digital learning for millions of children.
