The phygital world makes it more necessary than ever to have a digital identity that empowers citizens to be in control of their data and enables trusted interactions with digital services and ownership on the Web3. Europe has given a boost to digital identity with the eIDAS2 regulation, the EUDI wallet toolkit and the launch of the large pilots, but consensus is still lacking on some issues, such as privacy.
